Propane manager accused of pocketing sales money, blames drugs

ATHENS, AL (WAFF) - An Athens woman was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly stealing more than $10,000 from the company where she worked.

Ashley Reanda Baxley, 38, was an office manager at United Propane between May and September. Representatives from the Athens company reported that drivers delivered gas to local customers, many of whom paid with cash.

According to authorities, drivers would turn in the money to Baxley, who was allegedly pocketing many of the cash payments.

According to reports, Baxley communicated with company representatives via email, apologizing and stating that she was struggling with a drug habit. Baxley did not mention repayment to the company.

Baxley was interviewed by investigators and arrested on probable cause. Baxley was charged with first-degree theft. She booked into the Limestone County Jail and later released on a $5,000 bond.
