LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - The deaths of a Lawrence County couple is no longer being investigated as a homicide.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office responded to the Speake home on Thursday morning.

William and Carrol Gilliland were found dead inside.

Sheriff Gene Mitchell said the causes of death have not yet been determined.

Mitchell said there are many unanswered questions, and investigators are working closely with the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences to help answer some of those questions.

Mitchell said the couple was discovered dead after they had failed to pick up medication from their pharmacy. He said a pharmacy representative discovered the bodies after going to the home to drop off the medication.
