TALLADEGA COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - NASCAR driver Ryan Reed will be trying to make his first ever NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start this weekend in Talladega with Roush Racing.

Reed was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes several years ago, and his doctors told him that the physical demands of racing meant he might never compete at a high level.

With then help of his doctors, he's been able to beat the odds so far, even earning a win in NASCAR's second tier XFinity Series in 2015.
