DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Legislators in DeKalb County are pushing for residents to vote yes to Amendment 2.

They wrapped up a news conference at DeSoto State Park late Thursday afternoon which included Senator Steve Livingston and Representative Nathaniel Ledbetter.

Livingston says the amendment would allow the parks to cap off at $50 million before any transfers could take place.

The senator feels this will financially benefit their local parks which include DeSoto and Buck's Pocket.
"Had some closure at DeSoto over the wintertime. This will allow them to go back full time. It will allow them to make some needed repairs up there. It will give stability back to the park so they can now go out and do their zip lines," said Senator Steve Livingston.

The issue comes up for a vote November 8.
