Kitchen Cops: Several strong re-inspection scores

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - When the health inspector returns, a restaurant that earned a poor grade gets the chance to come back with a better score. A health inspection of 84 or lower puts a food establishment on the Kitchen Cops low performers list. An 85 gets them off of it. This week, there are several strong re-inspection scores.

Ricatoni's in Florence made a ten point jump, rising from an 83 to a 93 during their re-inspection. Edith Ann's Taste of Home Diner in Huntsville also scored an 83 last time, but they scored 94 this time, an eleven point improvement.

The staff at the Dairy Queen in Hartselle kept it clean with a re-inspection score of 92, a far cry from the 78 they put up before. The Asian Buffet in Hartselle barely made the low performers list last time with an 84, and now they're off of it after scoring a 90.

A 92 for O'Charley's in Huntsville is ten points better than their previous inspection. The Waffle House in Florence comes in with the same set of scores, rising from an 82 to a 92.

For three straight inspections, the Paradise Food Mart on Chisholm Road in Florence was stuck in the 70's,  but the staff made a big-time turnaround, scoring a 94. The Subway in Red Bay also scored a 94 this time after scoring a 79 last time. Skate Castle in Decatur scored a 94 after scoring an 80 last time.

Domino's Pizza on 11th Street Southeast in Decatur scored a 91 for their re-inspection after scoring a 77 last time. Rancho Viejo in Muscle Shoals
scored a 77 before but rose off the low performer's list with an 88. Tin Top Diner in Albertville improved by three points by scoring an 86.

A review of the records submitted to WAFF 48 News from local health departments revealed a couple of re-inspections that were omitted from the Kitchen Cops Report. Fiesta Mexicana in Tuscumbia scored a 77 in July. They earned a 90 during their re-inspection, then followed that with an even higher score, a 93.

Also in July, the Captain D's in Muscle Shoals scored a 78. They jumped up to a 90 when the inspector returned and earned a 91 for their most recent inspection.
