TUSCUMBIA, AL (WAFF) - A Tuscumbia man pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the death of his two-month-old son.
Michael Wade Logan, 28, was arrested two years ago on a capital murder charge.
Before Logan pleaded guilty, he withdrew a motion for a mental evaluation.
Prosecutors said on August 2, 2014, Logan's two-month-old baby was pronounced dead at Helen Keller Hospital just an hour after officers arrived at the Tuscumbia home.
Police found that the boy died from shaken baby syndrome. The state said the baby suffered injuries from falling off the couch and Logan slamming him on his knees a couple of times.
Logan's family was present in the courtroom at his sentencing. Some even appeared to be crying as the prosecutor read what happened.
Logan was sentenced to 20 years behind bars.
