HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Huntsville police arrested a man on sex crime charges Thursday morning.
Jerome Tonto Barnes, 55, is charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.
Police said the arrest stems from a case last month but could not specify details because of the nature of the crime. A police spokesman said Barnes and the victim are acquaintances.
Police said this is not related to the recent sexual assaults reported at Alabama A&M University.
Barnes is being held in the Madison County Jail on a $60,000 bond, according to jail records.
