HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A man is dead after charging Huntsville police officers with two fake pistols.

Officers responded to an alarm call at the Marathon Gas Station on Bailey Cove Road around 3 a.m. Saturday.

They discovered that it was a burglary in progress.

The officers issued verbal commands that were ignored.

45-year-old Robert Young ran out of the store with what appeared to be a gun in each hand pointed at the officers. The officers fired their weapons and the suspect died at the scene.

No officers were injured.

Police confirmed Monday that the guns were replica Smith & Wesson and Beretta 92 pistols.

Officers involved will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation and the findings of an Incident Review Board.
