MADISON, AL (WAFF) - A north Alabama realtor is trying to cash in on fears over the upcoming presidential election. Nineteen billboards asking if you're moving to Canada are now popping up across the region.

Real estate broker Matt Curtis said the idea came from a colleague who works in South Carolina where a similar tactic was tried. According to the Madison broker, this is the first time he's ever posted billboards promoting his business.

Curtis said they're obviously drawing a lot of attention. He's ordered an additional 19 billboards that will be up shortly. Curtis started to put them up a month ago but recently tweaked the moving to Canada message.

"I think everyone knows it's just a joke. Effective advertising you try to blend in with the main stream media with what's going on and that's exactly what we've done here," said Curtis. "Everyone sees it as just something funny and it catches their eye."

Curtis said no one has contacted him over a potential move to Canada yet.
