2 arrested after Decatur shooting of brothers
DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Two suspects have been arrested on a capital murder and assault charge after an early morning shooting Sunday.
Decatur police responded to a call from Morgan County 911 around 12 a.m. to a residence on the 1000 block of Danville Road.
According to police, the caller advised that 19-year-old Braxton Edwards, had been shot. When police, Decatur Fire and EMS arrived at the scene, police found Braxton's brother, 23-year-old Cameron J. Edwards, had also been shot.
Cameron was transported to the hospital for treatment and Braxton was pronounced dead at the scene. Robertson said the surviving brother had serious injuries, but was unsure of his condition at the time of the press release.
Braxton's body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Services in Huntsville for an autopsy.
The Decatur Police Departments Violent Crimes Unit began an investigation into the case. During the course of the investigation, Darrin Samone Wilkes of Huntsville and Terrance Shaquille Ellison of Harvest, Alabama were developed as suspects.
Wilkes and Ellison were later charged with capital murder and first-degree assault. Both will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail on no bond.
Police have not released any more information as the homicide case is still under investigation.
