HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Kallie is the only girl in a family of four siblings. When we met her back in June, she and her brothers were living with her grandmother.

Even though eight-year-old Kallie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, she wanted someone to do all those girly things with, and she found that in her Big Sister Jamie.

The two were matched a few months ago. Jamie, who is a teacher, was a natural fit.

"I am already a teacher and I know what a good mentor can bring, because I try to be a good mentor to my classrooms kids," said Jamie.

And Jamie recognizes that every child doesn't always have the support they need and that is the void she is willing to fill.

"Some children don't always have that strong personality that they need in their life and that is what I wanted to bring to a child I work with," said Jamie.

Back in June, we asked Kallie  what she wanted in a Big Sister.

"She could take me places and do things with me like go to Chucky Cheese and shopping and Shakalaka," said Kallie.

Kallie and Jamie said they plan to knock down that list and more, but both agree their first activity together was just perfect.

"When we went swimming, I had such a good time," said Kallie.

The two also have enjoyed spending lots of time outdoors. They like to hike, but they also like to do the typical girl stuff that Kallie loves so much. They like shopping, getting their nails done, and going to the movies.

"She really keeps me going. She is full of energy. It is good to be able to get out and do stuff with her," her mentor said.

And if a smile can tell a story, Kallie already has her happy ending.
