Arab police investigate convenience store robbery
ARAB, AL (WAFF) - Arab police are searching for suspects after a Thursday evening convenience store armed robbery.
Certainly a scary situation for the clerk having a gun pointed at them but the good news is there were no injuries.
Arab police say they got a call from the Jet Pep on Highway 231 around 9 p.m. Thursday night that they had been robbed.
Police said a man came into the store, pulled a small handgun on the clerk and demanded money.
The clerk handed over approximately $400 in cash. Police say the suspect then fled to the rear of the building.
It's not known if he continued on foot or got into a vehicle. Police say they're trying to recover surveillance video and only have a short description of the thief.
"The victim said they thought it was a white male. He was about six, two and had a slender build and that's all he could tell us. He was dressed in dark clothes, again he had the hoodie and the mask. He said all he could see was his eyes," said Arab Police Chief Ed Ralston.
If anyone has any information about this crime you're asked to contact the Arab Police Department.
