LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Neighbors in parts of Morgan and Lawrence counties say their water is still unsafe to drink despite water authority officials stating otherwise.

They held a meeting Sunday night to discuss a plan of action. Their concerns stem from an advisory issued back in May warning residents not to use or drink water from the West Morgan East Lawrence Water Authority.

But, neighbors aren't buying it and they're demanding action from local and state leaders.

"I will not drink anything like that. That kind of looks like pudding. The government doesn't think enough is enough. We've had it. We want something done," said Shelia Harbel, a Courtland resident.

The group said they've started a petition requesting federal regulators to test the water again for dangerous chemicals.
