4 sentenced in connection to New Market pharmacy robbery

NEW MARKET, AL (WAFF) - Four people have been sentenced in connection to a 2012 robbery at a New Market pharmacy.

Police say on June 31, 2012, Clarence Turner and Cordaryl Turner.robbed the New Market Discount Drug Pharmacy.

Billy Poe, the pharmacy owner, said two men armed with a gun entered and demanded roxycodone, xanax, loritabs and muscle relaxers. He said the men fired one shot into the ceiling. Poe said they grabbed about $150 in cash and armloads of prescription drugs then ran out the door.

Two other suspects, Devaron Love and Tavaris McCartney, were in the vehicle during the robbery and helped the men escape.

According to court records, all four suspects have lengthy criminal records. They all previously faced charges ranging from theft and robbery to assault.

Clarence Turner was sentenced to 135 months in jail followed by 60 months supervised release. Cordaryl Turner was sentenced to 105 months in jail followed by 60 months supervised release.

Love received a 114 months sentence followed by 48 months supervised release and McCartney received a 53 months sentence followed by 48 months supervised release.

"The sentencings demonstrate ATF and our partners continued dedication to identify the individuals who comment the violent crimes that threaten quality of life in our neighborhoods," said ATF Special Agent in Charge Steve Gerido.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office and the Madison County District Attorney partnered with the ATF and the U.S.Attorney's Office during the investigation.
