Woman arrested for running over woman in Guntersville

GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A Guntersville woman is charged with running over another woman with her car over the weekend.

Brenda Beatrice Wiley, 44, is now in the Marshall County Jail on first-degree assault charges.

Guntersville police said the incident was no accident but what prompted it is still under investigation.

The incident happened near the intersection of Ligon Street and Carlisle Avenue around 11 p.m. Friday.

Police said the call came out as a pedestrian struck but soon realized what happened was intentional.

Captain John East said 24-year-old Valisha Dabbs of Guntersville was the victim in the case and was taken to Huntsville Hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Meanwhile, officers took Wiley into custody for the assault charge.

"Officers responded to the scene of a pedestrian that had been struck. Upon investigation of the scene it was determined that a vehicle had left the roadway traveling on the sidewalk striking the victim who had a severe leg injury," said East.

Wiley is in the Marshall County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
