FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - A Florence attorney is behind bars and facing charges of human trafficking.

The Florence Police Department arrested 51-year-old Edward Ray Dillard Thursday and charged him with 11 counts of human trafficking, one count of sexual abuse, one count of intimidating a witness and two counts of making terrorist threats.

Dillard is an attorney in the Florence area. He is currently being held on a $500,000 cash bond.

The Florence Police Department also made a second arrest through the investigation.

Timothy Wylie Staggs, 83, was arrested and charged with nine counts of human trafficking. He is currently being held on a $300,000 cash bond.

Investigators say Dillard and Staggs used various methods to take advantage of young women in Lauderdale County.

"Although we cannot provide other details at this time, I want to stress that this is an ongoing investigation," said Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange. "We ask anyone who has information related to possible crimes by these two men, to please come forward."
