LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - The rain held off Saturday morning so hundreds of special needs kids could join in the Limestone County Rodeo festivities.
For the past 13 years, children from all over the Tennessee Valley have looked forward to horseback riding, hay rides, and all the other activities.
And this year the sheriff made sure he didn't disappoint.

"I was so thankful that we were able to get this in and not have to postpone it. Everyone one of them has been keyed up all week long. Some of the teachers said they didn't know what would they would have done it they didn't get to come out here today," said Sheriff Mike Blakely.

Events will continue throughout the weekend with rodeo performances Saturday night and Sunday evening.

The rodeo is held at the Sheriff's Rodeo arena of Highway 99 in Athens. For more information, click here.
