GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A GPS device led police to a stolen car where they said a man was spray painting the vehicle.

Police arrested Cody Sterling for allegedly trying to spray paint the stolen car and charged him with theft.

Police said Sterling allegedly stole Amberly Thompson's car from a Guntersville business.

Thompson said the theft and the spray painting on her car was just the latest in a line of bad luck she's gone through.

"I was devastated because we just lost everything we had in a house fire about right after Christmas, and this was the only thing I had left and now it's spray painted," said Thompson.

Sterling has since been released on bond.
