HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A kids marathon raised awareness for blood donations in Huntsville on Saturday.
Five Points of Life held its marathon for kids at Milton Frank Stadium to help encourage and educate the next generation on blood donorship.
More than 100 students from schools and churches across Madison County turned out for the race.
Event Organizer Victoria Bell said the kids are educated on the five points of saving a life which include whole blood, sickle cell, bone marrow, cord blood and organs, and tissues.
"We want to encourage all of our elementary schools to actually participate in our program because it allows them to learn about the five points of life like I said earlier, that are actually the factors that save other people's life. So that when they grow up, they are our next donor generation," said Bell.
Rainbow Elementary received a check for having the most participates at the race.
