HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A group of walkers raised $100,000 to help people diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
The Walk MS event was held at Providence School in Huntsville this morning, and approximately 700 walkers participated in the annual fundraiser.
The money from the event will go to support programs and services for thousands of families dealing with the disease.
One of this year's walkers said the walk is a way to support those diagnosed with MS.
"My team is Team Shenanigans 'cause I'm Shannon. And it's a wonderful group of girls that I've had together for twenty years, and they have supported me in everything I've ever done and it means the world to me that they come out here. And I'm sure all of the other teams are a lot of the same stories," said Shannon Assal who is living with MS.
MS attacks the central nervous system and can disable people who suffer from it. There is no cure, but those living with the disease say treatment and therapy can help.
