HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A man is in custody after leading police on a high-speed chase through Huntsville Wednesday night.

Officers with the Huntsville Police Department attempted to pull Calvin Montez Smith, 24, when he took off in his car.

The chase started on Andrew Jackson Way, went down Oakwood Avenue, and ended on Fulton Drive.

When police were able to stop Smith they suspected him of being under the influence.

Smith was charged with two counts of possession of a forged instrument, driving under the influence, attempting to elude police, running a red light, failure to have liability insurance, reckless driving, and driving with improper equipment.

He is being held on a $7,700 bond.
