HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Runners are gearing up everywhere for marathons, half-marathons, and 5k runs across the Tennessee Valley.
Just this weekend, one of the largest races in Alabama, the Mercedes Marathon, took place in Birmingham.
On Valentine's Day, many people celebrated with a 4-mile run at the Winter Winds Race at Grissom High School.
It is race season, so you can find a race to run on most weekends coming up. You can find a list of races on Fleet Feet Huntsville's website here.
A major half-marathon is coming up in April at Bridge Street Town Centre, and you can register now through Feb. 28 for $50 before the price goes up to $65 and eventually $75. Click here to register.
Runners in the Rocket City are training and gearing up for the popular Huntsville run.
"I'm doing as many small races around here that I can to help my training," said runner Meg Combs. "I try to do one long run a week and increase that long mile each week. Last week, my long run was five miles. This week will be six. I run usually 13-20 miles a week!"
The race is on April 10 and there is a post race party at Bridge Street for all the participants.
The run goes through Bridge Street and Research Park.
