HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - An adopted teen received an unexpected but wholly fulfilling gift on her birthday Saturday.

Jadyn Taylor, 19, had one simple wish - the chance to meet her long-lost birth mother, who she had not seen in 10 years.

"I had some questions for them that I wanted to know, and catch up with them," said Jadyn. "Did they want to give me up? Did they ever try to find me?"

Jadyn's adoptive mother, Jawanna Evans-Horton, and her aunt, Tiffany Evans, worked hard to make her wish come true.

"I told my Auntie Tiffany that she wasn't going to be able to find them," Jadyn said.

What the women didn't tell Jadyn, however, was that they had indeed found her birth mother - and that she was going to be there at Jadyn's birthday party Saturday night.

After 10 years - a decade of thinking and wondering - birth mother Theresa Ramirez reunited with Jadyn during the teen's birthday celebration at a Huntsville restaurant.

At first, Jadyn was caught off-guard, certain that she was in a dream. But it was reality, one that saw her hug her birth mother for the first time in a decade.

"I was just excited to see her," said Ramirez.

"Miss Theresa said, 'You are her momma,'" recalled Jawanna. "I said, 'Well, you're mommy,' she said, 'Sounds good to me."

With Jadyn's wish suddenly now true, the teenager knows she wants to hold on, to know more, to continue learning.

"I don't want to start cutting any ties; I want to start building our relationship from here on out," said Jadyn.

"She gets an extended family, gets to know where she's from," said Tiffany.

"We made that agreement, that we are family, we will stick together, and this is not the end - this is a beginning," added Jawanna.

"Its the best night of my life," said Jadyn.

Tiffany Evans, Jadyn's adoptive aunt, is the one who was able to locate Jadyn's birth mother, Theresa. Tiffany said she has performed similar searches for herself and her sister in years past, and is working on starting a business to help others with similar searches.
