RED BAY, AL (WAFF) - In June of 2015, a man was taken into custody after a hostage standoff at a pharmacy in Red Bay.

Christopher Trail pled guilty to robbery on Friday. He has been sentenced to 20 years.

Trail had walked into Redmont Pharmacy around 9 a.m. and asked if they were open. After the employee told him they were he walked back out and returned with a shotgun.

When he returned inside the pharmacy he put four employees in a back room and demanded to be given drugs by the pharmacist.

Donna Weatherford, the pharmacist, convinced Trail to let the other employees go. He then held Weatherford at gunpoint for two hours.

J.C. Weeks, the pharmacy owner, said that Weatherford told Trail he could have anything he wanted in the pharmacy. After taking the drugs he asked for, he began to calm down and eventually fell asleep.

After Trail fell asleep Weatherford took his gun and walked out of the pharmacy.

Police said that trail had broke into a home and stole the shotgun that he carried into the pharmacy.

Trail was taken into custody after being treated for an overdose.
