HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Polaris announced it will make layoffs amid poor financial results.
Company leaders blame the recent warm weather and oil prices as factors for the poor results.
Polaris will layoff 100 people and will not fill other positions, according to a report from KARE-TV.
Polaris leaders said the financial report will not have any impact on them opening their new Huntsville facility a few months from now.
Net income was down more than $110 million in 2015 compared to the previous year.
Company leaders predicted another volatile year in 2016 the powersports industry. Polaris manufactures everything from snow mobiles
to all-terrain vehicles.
Around a year ago, Polaris announced plans to build a brand new manufacturing facility off Greenbrier Road and Interstate-565 that will bring nearly 2,000 jobs to the area.
They've already put up billboards and online posting about open positions.
In a press release, company leaders said they'd continue to invest in projects:
Huntsville's Polaris manufacturing facility is earmarked for off-road vehicles.
