Man accused of killing ex-wife at Decatur bakery has charges upgraded to capital murder

The man police say fatally shot his ex-wife at her Decatur bakery had his charges upgraded to capital murder on Wednesday

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - According to Decatur police, Roger Dale Stevens shot Kay Stevens multiple times in November 2015 as she arrived at her business, The Corner Bakery, on Somerville Road.

Kay was airlifted to a hospital, where she later died. Later that afternoon, Roger Stevens was arrested after a standoff near I-565 and Greenbrier Road.

Court documents show that Kay had previously filed a protection order against Roger.

Their divorce was finalized two days before the shooting.
