MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Deputies with the Madison County Sheriff's Office are investigating a fatal shooting on Oldwood Road that happened around 6:30 Tuesday night.

Investigators said a 75-year-old man was killed. The coroner identified the victim as John Donald Stice.

Police said the shooting happened in the hallway of the home. The coroner said Stice was killed by a single gunshot wound.

Stice's wife Martha, who was taken to Huntsville Hospital, is suspected of firing the fatal shot. The woman reportedly had scratch marks on her when she was transported.

However, no arrests or charges have been announced at this time. Investigators said the case could be handed over to a grand jury.

Officials said three calls for assistance have been made to the home in the past year, including one for a domestic incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
