ATHENS, AL (WAFF) - The Athens Police Department is searching for two men suspected of robbing a gas station Sunday night.

Police were called to the Citgo station on Highway 72 East near I-65 just after 10 p.m.

The store manager told investigators a man walked to the beer cooler and brought a 12-pack of beer to the counter. When the manager told the man he couldn't sell beer on a Sunday, the man pulled a gun and demanded money.

The man took an undisclosed amount of money and walked to a nearby Krystal parking lot.

Investigators looked at security video and found the vehicle the man walked to, a black Suzuki XXL-7 Grand Vitara, had pulled into the gas station a few minutes before the robbery.

A second man, wearing a navy ball cap with a yellow bandanna under it, a black leather coat, tan shirt and dark jeans had entered the store attempting to buy beer as well. When he was refused, he left the store, got into the Suzuki, and pulled into the Krystal.

Anyone with information about the suspects and the robbery are asked to call Athens PD at 256-233-8700.
