HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A new health clinic is now open for business in Huntsville.

A ribbon-cutting and open house was held Tuesday afternoon at the new Thrive Alabama Wellness Clinic.

Located on St. Clair Avenue, the clinic helps counsel and treat people with sexually-transmitted diseases.

Thrive was formerly known as the AIDS Action Coalition and changed their name back in May.

"People thrive now," explained director of development Mark Moore. "They don't see AIDS as a death sentence. Instead, we have people living bold, healthy lives thanks to prompt care."

Tuesday's grand opening was held in conjunction with World AIDS Day.

Thrive's mission is to help stop the spread of HIV and AIDS in North Alabama.
