HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - The man accused of firing eight shots at a Huntsville police officer in November 2013 is expected to enter a guilty plea next week.

Sabore Basden, 23, is charged with attempted murder. Investigators say Basden ran from an officer who tried to stop him after he ran a red light. During the chase, he fired at the officer.

"After talking extensively with the officer's involved in that shooting, in consideration of all of the facts Mr. Basden will be taking a 15-year straight sentence. He will be pleading guilty next Monday," said Jay Town, the Madison County Assistant District Attorney

If Basden chose not to plead guilty he'd face life in prison with parole.
