ROGERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - The State Bureau of Investigation are still gathering information and identifying suspects in the death of a woman found dead inside her Rogersville apartment Friday evening.

Rogersville police identified the woman as Connie Ridgeway, 58, of Rogersville.

Police say a neighbor was concerned they didn't see Ridgeway all day. The neighbor went to check on Ridgeway, and found her apartment door partially open, and could see Ridgeway lying on the floor. The neighbor then called police.

Rogersville Police officers who were at the Lauderdale County football game across the street arrived on scene shortly thereafter, and discovered Ridgeway's body.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, Lauderdale County Coroner and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's State Bureau of Investigation were then called to the scene.

The coroner pronounced Ridgeway dead at the scene and took the body to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences lab in Huntsville for an autopsy.

The Rogersville Police Department has handed the investigation over to the SBI, and the Lauderdale County Sheriff will assist with the investigation.

Rogersville Police said they are working with the SBI to locate individuals for questioning, but do not have any suspects or a motive at this time.

We reached out to the SBI and they are not releasing any more information at this point.
