COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A man is behind bars facing serious charges after Colbert County deputies say he lead them on chase and fired shots towards them on Oct. 7.

Deputies pursued Douglas Allen Brown, 48, down County Line Road in Colbert County before Brown wrecked his pickup truck on Spangler Road near Leighton, fired shots and took off into the woods. The sheriff said Brown threatened to harm himself and others. Brown was ultimately arrested.

"Everything turned out good," said Sheriff Frank Williamson. "We had a high-speed chase with him. When he ran, we finally talked him out of the woods out there, so everything turned out good. Nobody got hurt. It could have had a really bad ending, so we're glad it didn't."

Brown is facing charges of attempted murder, shooting into an unoccupied vehicle, assault and DWI. He has been in the Colbert County Jail since Wednesday night. His bond is set at $111,000.
