MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Madison County Sheriff Blake Dorning announced on Tuesday that deputies with the Madison County Sheriff's Office are aware there is a scam in which suspects say they are associated with the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

According to Dorning, the suspects are calling people and telling them they have warrants and will be arrested if they do not go through Kroger Money Services or another device to transfer money to them.

Dorning said the suspects are using the identity of Sheriff's Office employees, so if you receive a call from someone claiming to be associated with the sheriff's office requesting that you send money to pay fines or to avoid arrest, do not transfer money using any money services device, and contact the sheriff's office immediately at 256-722-7181.
