GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A week after a Claysville teacher was severely injured in wreck, her student's came together to surprise her and wish her a speedy recovery.

Leah Manning who teaches first grade at Claysville Junior High School is still recovering in the hospital a week after she was involved in a wreck with an 18-wheeler.

Friday,  students and teachers sang for her just hours before she went into surgery.

"Just away to cheer her up to let her know we are all going to be here. The road is not going to be easy. We're going to be here, we are not going to let her go we're going to help," said Mary Grace Stubblefield, a fellow teacher.

There's no word yet as to when Manning will be able to return to the classroom.
