Police arrest 3 involved in Athens home robbery

ATHENS, AL (WAFF) - Three people are facing robbery charges after a man walked into the Athens Police Department and told officers he had been robbed.

Police arrested Jodi Strange Ferrell, 46 of Athens, Mary Alice Beard, 41 of Athens, and Vantella Lamont Malone, 37 of Athens.

Officers say that the robbery occurred at a home in the 1500 block of Fifth Avenue.

Police say the alleged victim told offers a friend came to his house around 7 p.m. Thursday night with two women asking to borrow money. The victim refused to give the women money but he did loan his friend money.

Later that night the women came back to the victims house with an unknown male, The unknown male grabbed the victim by his neck and threatened him while demanding money. The victim then pulled out a pistol and the three suspects ran away.

Friday afternoon Athens police arrested the three suspects. They will be transferred to the county jail.
