HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A 14-year-old boy who was detained after teachers at his school deemed a homemade clock he brought in to be suspicious has garnered a lot of support around the world.
The Twitter hashtag #IStandWithAhmed began tweeting soon after an image of Ahmed Mohamad, who is Muslim, placed in handcuffs on Monday emerged on social media.
The teen told media outlets that he makes his own electronics and makes repairs to a go-kart, and wanted to show his work on the clock to his engineering teacher.

Since the incident, Mohamad has been released, the case closed, and support for the boy has continued to grow.
On the heels of an invite from President Obama for the teen to visit the White House, Huntsville's famed Space Camp announced in a tweet posted Wednesday afternoon that a donor has provided the funds to send Mohamad to the science and aeronautics camp.
"Creative minds are always welcome at Space Camp," they wrote, "and we appreciate donors who help them come."
