LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A Shoals pastor is calling the Christian community to come together to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

After seeing the efforts of One Place of the Shoals, Pastor Andy Wallace says churches should be a place of healing to help victims. He has created a declaration in which he's trying to get other area churches to sign.

"It's a one page paper that says what we believe, what the Bible says first of all about standing for those who can't stand for themselves, defending the defenseless and the Biblical ethic for that in the good samaritan Jesus said love your neighbor and your neighbor is anybody you come across who's in need," explained Pastor Andy Wallace, Hendrix Road Baptist Church, "And then the second part of that is we do support the local authorities in their pursuit of justice and equity in the community."

Pastor Wallace says this movement isn't about any one Pastor, church or denomination.

"The goal is to say to churches all over the area, lets lift up the value of human beings as represented by the word of God. As a Christian community lets stand up and say who we are because this is who God is." says Wallace

Pastor Wallace is also planning a summit with the Lauderdale County District Attorney's office next month to discuss ways churches can help.
