DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - A woman was arrested after firing shots at the Burger King on Beltline Road in Decatur Tuesday afternoon.
According to Decatur Police at 2:21 p.m., Decatur Police officers at Shelton's Funeral Home heard multiple gunshots coming from the parking lot of Burger King. The officers then saw a car leaving the parking lot of the restaurant and a male trying to get their attention.
The suspect's car was located at the Decatur Mall parking lot. Officers then arrested Kimberly Avengowe.
According to officials, the suspect and victim have a four month old child together. The child had been visiting with the victim and was meeting up with Avengowe to give the child back when a disturbance broke out between the couple.
Police say the suspect then fired multiple rounds, hitting the victim's car.
Avengowe has been charged with discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle. Other charges are expected.
Madison County DHR has been notified of the situation and they are making sure the child is in safe hands.
