(WAFF) - Man charged with capital murder has bond hearing

A man accused of killing a woman and then taking off with her car is set to go before a judge Thursday for a bond hearing. Anthony Bevels is charged with capital murder after investigators say he killed Mary Berryman in November of last year. Officers discovered her body inside her home after her co-workers called deputies to check on her when she didn't show up for work. Authorities arrested Bevels in Lincoln County, Tennessee after they found him driving Berryman's car. Bevels remains in the Madison County Metro Jail on a $75,000 bond.

Man convicted of murdering wife denied parole

A man convicted in the beating death of his wife has been denied parole. David Johnston was convicted for the 2000 beating death of his wife, Kelley Rutledge Johnston. At the time of her death, Kelley had a protection order against Johnston. The decision to keep Johnston in prison came after only a brief moment's deliberation; the board also ruled that Johnston will not be eligible for parole for another five years, the maximum allowed by state law.
