Lockheed announces more jobs in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Dozens of new jobs are coming to Huntsville, with an announcement by Lockheed Martin of more than 100 new positions to the Rocket City.
The company is moving 20 percent of its command, control, battle management and communications programs to the city as part of a consolidation effort.
Lockheed officials said they expect the changes to increase efficiency and streamline costs.
The new workforce will be in place by mid-2016.
"Lockheed Martin has been a great Huntsville partner for decades," said Mayor Tommy Battle. "We are pleased to see the company continue to grow, expand, and look to Huntsville to meet their most challenging solutions."
The announcement was made as part of the Space and Missile Defense Symposium in Huntsville, which began Tuesday.
