TUSCUMBIA, AL (WAFF) - With the summer sun shining bright on Tuscumbia's Spring Park on Wednesday, families gathered for the first Special Needs Carnival and Wheelchair Wash.
Sponsored by the Muscle Shoals Children's Rehabilitation Services, families were able to spend the day at the park playing games and treated to a free lunch.
"Children's Rehabilitation really just wanted to have an event for the kids that we serve in the community," said event organizer Kimberly Wright, "to allow them to have the opportunity to break away from all the doctors appointments to come out and have a fun day."
Wright said the event also lets people learn more about what children's rehab does and services that are provided to families.
"They're having a good time and enjoying themselves, it means everything to us," said Wright.
Organizers even set up a wheelchair wash and repair station for anyone who needed assistance.
