RUSSELLVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Russellville police say the suspect in a Tuesday night shooting is in custody Wednesday afternoon.

Police said Javorose Monquise Yarbough was considered armed and dangerous. They say Yarbough walked into the Russellville Police Department around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Yarbough is charged with attempted murder and is being held without bond on a hold for the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a parole violation.

The Lowndes County Circuit Court clerk in Mississippi said Yarbough was convicted of burglary and attempted burglary in 2013. He's also been indicted for possession of weapon by a convicted felon.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on the road heading into Washington Court Apartments off South Washington Avenue, police say. When police got to the scene, they found the 18-year-old victim had been taken to the hospital in a personal car and the suspect, believed to be Yarbough, had already fled the scene.

Several shell casings were found at the scene on Tuesday night. Wednesday morning, police found a weapon they believe was used in the shooting. The motive for the shooting is unclear, although police believe the suspect and the victim had an altercation that started on Monday.

Yarbough's mother, Tasha Phinizee, and step-father, Bernard Phinizee, have also been arrested.

They're charged with hindering prosecution.

Police say the victim was taken to Huntsville Hospital, where at last check he was listed in critical condition.
