SHEFFIELD, AL (WAFF) - Sheffield police are looking for a man accused of breaking into a home and stabbing one of two roommates inside.

Scotty Watson says he's only lived in this particular Sheffield home for 5 months. He says he has no idea why the man was in his house or what he wanted.

Around 1 a.m. Tuesday, Watson says he heard someone inside his home on 15th Avenue.

"By the time I got up, they walked to the double doors in my bedroom and then he swung a knife at my arm," explained Watson.

He says he tried to fight back before getting stabbed in the stomach.

Watson recalls the man had on a black ski mask, but didn't appear to take anything from the home.

"It was pitch black in there; I couldn't even tell what race he was," said Watson.

Watson says his roommate and his roommate's girlfriend were asleep in another room. He says they didn't hear anything until he woke them up seeking help.

"I was just thinking about my son and him not being able to see his father anymore," he said.

Watson was treated and released from Helen Keller Hospital and received two staples in his stomach.

Sheffield Police are asking anyone with any information on Tuesday morning's break-in to come forward. You can remain anonymous.

They say there have been a string of car break-ins in the York Terrace area over the last few weeks; it's unclear if they are connected.
