(WAFF) - Law Enforcement agencies across the Tennessee regularly receive communications from the FBI and recently, they were alerted about a terrorist threat during the Fourth of July.

"All of our deputies have been put on alert just to be eyes and ears aware," said Morgan County Sheriff, Ana Franklin.

Sheriff Ana Franklin says she and all of her deputies will be working this Independence Day weekend.

"We have extra patrols, extra deputies out, investigators out this whole Fourth of July week," said Franklin.

The Morgan County Sheriff's Department and other agencies are putting extra manpower at large events. One large event this holiday weekend is at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, where there will be plenty of food and fun.
"And of course we'll end the evening with an incredible fireworks display," said U.S. Space and Rocket Center Media Manager, Pat Ammons.

Around 5,000 people attended last year and they expect a similar number this year.

"Safety is paramount to us at all times," said Ammons.

There will be bag checks at the gate and other extra safety measures. Ammons says their security team is aware of the terrorist threat.

"And we have been briefing on that for days to make sure everyone is safe and has a good time," said Ammons.

On top of their beefed up security, there will be more manpower

"Off duty police officers that we have hired obviously to help us," said Ammons.

Ammons says it will be a fun and safe evening

"It's wonderful for us to be able to share this, it's a great community event something that we look forward to sharing with Huntsville and the surrounding community," said Ammons.
