Huntsville officer recovering from coals thrown in face

A Huntsville police officer is recovering after a suspect threw hot coals in his face.

Officers were called to a home on Vinemont Drive around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, after a woman called 911 saying her husband was threatening to burn down their house.

While trying to arrest the man, police say he threw the coals in the officer's face.

While handcuffed, the man had a medical issue.

HEMSI officials transported him to the hospital for treatment.

The officer was treated and released for minor injuries.
