Man attempts to rob gas station, manager pulls gun

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Huntsville police arrested a man on charges of first-degree robbery on Saturday.
Police say 35-year-old John Rather entered the Wavaho gas station on Governors Drive at 11:15 p.m. and began talking to the cashier. Rather then hit the cashier in the head with a brick, jumped the counter, and began fighting with him.
The manager noticed the struggle and pulled a gun on Rather. The manager made him lay on the floor until officers arrived and took him into custody.
Rather was charged with first-degree robbery and taken to the Huntsville/Madison County Jail.
The cashier received minor injuries.
