FRANKLIN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Emergency crews in Franklin County recovered the body of a missing person from a car found in the water at "The Rock" off Highway 84 on Cedar Creek Lake.

Crews were notified Sunday night about a vehicle running off the road and into the water. Officials responded to the area, and other area agencies responded to assist in the search.

While combing the water, crews found two other vehicles, unrelated to the incident. Nobody was found inside and the search was suspended on Sunday night.

On Monday morning, officials say a missing person's report was filed with the City of Russellville. The car involved in that report matched the description of the car that ran off the road.

The body of Michael Trent Markem was found late Monday afternoon, officials confirmed.

Officials say the area they're in is dangerous, and they are still working to determine exactly what happened.
