Officials: Man confesses to DeKalb Co. murder

DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - The DeKalb County district attorney signed a murder warrant for a man in the death investigation of a Fort Payne woman.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports the pathologist preliminary report determined that the cause of death for Bobbie Lynn Ross, 35 of Fort Payne, was blunt force trauma to the head.

In an interview with investigators on Tuesday, Doug Minor, 32 of Fort Payne, told officials that he and both women involved in the alleged murder had been on a three to four-day meth high. After an argument happened, Minor said he hit both women.

On Wednesday, DeKalb County District Attorney Mike O'Dell signed the murder warrant on Minor in the investigation into Ross' death.

Warrants were also issued on Minor for the assault and kidnapping of Norma Jo Grinnell, 36 of Fort Payne.

Sheriff Harris said the investigation is ongoing as they continue interviewing potential witnesses and collect evidence.
