MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Marshall County, like many other counties in North Alabama, relies heavily on its poultry industry.

That industry is being celebrated in Boaz with the Poultry and Egg Festival on Friday.

This is the second year for the festival and officials here believe it's a great way to get people out and have fun while at the same time teaching them the importance of the poultry business.

The crowds that came to the first festival last year at the fairgrounds prompted officials to move it to a larger venue at the old outlet mall location.

There's plenty to see and do for people of all ages. Kids have the inflatable slides to enjoy and parents have the arts and crafts.

But there are items on display for people to learn more about the poultry and egg industry in the area as well as other agricultural interests.

Many school kids attended on Friday and officials believe it's something kids need to learn at an early age.

The festival will be open Friday at 6 p.m. and be back open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
