Police charge man with YMCA car break-ins

MADISON, AL (WAFF) - The Madison Police Department charged a man on Friday with breaking into two vehicles parked at the Hogan Family YMCA in Madison.

The vehicles were broken into on March 18 and March 31 of this year.

A window was broken and a target was a purse left in the vehicle during both break-ins.

Ellis Cooper, 24, of Huntsville, was charged with two counts of breaking and entering an automobile and one count of second degree theft of property.

He was placed in the Madison County Jail on a $7,500 bond.

The MPD has noticed a seasonal increase in car burglaries and encourages everyone to lock their doors and not leave items of value inside vehicles.
